Education of the Feelings

Let’s be careful about our feelings. When feelings preponderate over reason, it’s time for us to stop and think deeply.
To base our actions upon sentimental outbreaks is leaving open doors to an often distorted and illusionary view of reality and to unpredictable hardships.
Refusing to use our ability to think – about matters of any area of our lives – can make us give away the best of us to relationships that will only bring an illusion of happiness, which will get ruined, sooner or later.
Allowing passion to governate us is building upon unsteady terrain, throwing us towards instability and anguish.
On the matters of affection, we must constantly pursue self-control so that we do not involve ourselves and others on relationships without commitment, without seriousness, without responsibility, without noble purpose. The harms generated under these circumstances can be much bigger than we imagine and take more than one existence to be repaired.
The disrespect for other people’s feelings will fatally bring painful payback in order that we educate ourselves emotionally.
Balance is the key.
Education and reason are not incompatible with feelings. On the contrary: they are the forces that will guide our feelings through a safer path, directing them to noble purposes.
Uncontrolled passion brings us close to suffering and madness; true love brings us close to The Savior.
Peace and blessings!
