Spiritual laziness

Undoubtedly the days seem shorter for the many activities that must be done; however, nothing justifies neglecting the time that must be dedicated to spiritual interchange, specially praying and studying.
Most of us find the time to watch certain TV shows, to visit many websites, to have long conversations on the phone. It is perfectly possible that we set aside some minutes a day to dedicate ourselves exclusively to studies and prayer.
When we start or end our day without praying, or when we neglect our spiritual disciplines in some way, we are giving a hint that there are other things that we consider more important than the contact with God. When the negligence happens repeatedly, we’re capable of feeling the distance that we have imposed between ourselves and the Savior.
So, when it’s least expected, we become sad and bitter, full of anguish and weakness, unable of facing the challenges of life, and we do not understand the reason for feeling this way. It is certainly worthy to wake up a little earlier or making any necessary adjustment to fit prayer time into our routine. The one who makes prayer a constant in life will not be free from the troubles of the way, but will surely feel stronger through the power of sincere prayer.
Recognizing the priority of what really matters is a matter of choice, a choice that depends only on us and makes all the difference between a life of affliction and a life of peace.
Peace and blessings!
