Tolerance, a road to peace

By Euzébia Noleto, November 3, 2009 1:00 am

flores-diferentes-vivem-juntasSome time ago we talked about tolerance with people who offend us. Today we’ll talk briefly about tolerance with differences.

For our spiritual development, there’s no use being sympathetic and kind on social occasions, if in our minds we act as merciless judges of other people’s conduct. True tolerance manifests itself from the inside to the outside, meaning that we do not criticize because there’s no criticizing thought in our minds. If there’s no tolerance inside us, sooner or later we’ll express our real ideas, no matter how polite we might be, and then we’ll run the risk of being hurtful to our fellows.

We are all different and that difference is a divine resource to promote our learning on Earth. If we don’t exercise tolerance, besides wasting the opportunity of learning and evolving spiritually, we’ll nurture conflict on places where there should be friendship.

We can’t demand that people think and act the same way we do. Let’s place ourselves on other people’s shoes to understand them better.

When we cultivate tolerance, we bring peace to our relationships, but not just that: when we accept the idea that we must allow each person to follow his/her own way, we walk the road that leads to true peace inside us.

Have a blessed week, full of peace and harmony.

                        See you soon,
